2. Scope, purpose and legal basis of the processing of personal data

We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with statutory data protection regulations and this privacy policy.

It is generally possible to use our website without providing personal data. Where personal data (such as name, address or email address) is collected on our website, this is always done on a voluntary basis wherever possible. This data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent.

Legal basis for the processing of personal data

Where we obtain the consent of the data subject for the processing of personal data, Article 6(1)(a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) serves as the legal basis.

Where the processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party, Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis. This also applies to processing operations necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures.

Where the processing of personal data is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which our company is subject, Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis.

Where the processing of personal data is necessary to protect the vital interests of the data subject or of another natural person, Article 6(1)(d) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis.

If processing is necessary to safeguard a legitimate interest of our company or a third party, and the interests, fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject do not override the former interest, Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR serves as the legal basis for the processing.

Legitimate interests

When processing your data, we pursue the following legitimate interests:

  • Protection against misuse
  • Ensuring IT security
  • Improving our services

a. Data collection on our website

You may visit our website without providing any personal information. Each time you access our website, usage data is transmitted by your internet browser and stored in log files (server log files). This stored data includes, for example, the name of the page accessed, the date and time of access, the amount of data transferred and the requesting provider. This data is used exclusively to ensure the smooth operation of our website and to improve our services. It is not possible to link this data to a specific individual.

b. Contacting us by email

You can contact us via the email address provided on our website, which opens an email addressed to us when clicked. Contact is established by using/providing your email address.

If personal data is collected or provided, the processing of personal data is carried out for the purpose of:

  • Contacting you
  • Responding to your enquiries
  • contract processing
  • technical administration

Please note that data transmission over the internet (e.g. when communicating by email) may be subject to security vulnerabilities. It is not possible to guarantee complete protection of data against access by third parties. For this reason, you are free to provide us with personal data via alternative means, such as by post or telephone.

By submitting your message, you consent to the processing of the data transmitted.

c. Google Analytics 4

Provided you have given your consent, this website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. The data controller for users in the EU/EEA and Switzerland is Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland (“Google”).

Nature and purpose of processing

Google Analytics uses cookies that enable an analysis of your use of our websites. The information collected via the cookies regarding your use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

We use Google Signals. This allows Google Analytics to collect additional information about users who have enabled personalised ads (interests and demographic data), and ads can be delivered to these users in cross-device remarketing campaigns.

In Google Analytics 4, IP address anonymisation is enabled by default. Due to IP anonymisation, your IP address is truncated by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. According to Google, the IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data.

During your visit to the website, your user behaviour is recorded in the form of “events”. Events may include:

  • Page views
  • First visit to the website
  • Start of the session
  • Webpages visited
  • Your ‘click path’, interaction with the website
  • Scrolls (whenever a user scrolls to the bottom of the page (90%))
  • Clicks on external links
  • Internal search queries
  • Interaction with videos
  • File downloads
  • Ads viewed / clicked
  • Language setting

The following is also recorded:

  • Your approximate location (region)
  • Date and time of the visit
  • Your IP address (in truncated form)
  • Technical information about your browser and the devices you use (e.g. language setting, screen resolution)
  • Your internet service provider
  • The referrer URL (via which website/advertising medium you arrived at this website)

Purposes of processing
On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website and to compile reports on website activity. The reports provided by Google Analytics are used to analyse the performance of our website.

Recipients
Recipients of the data are/may be

  • Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (as a data processor pursuant to Article 28 of the GDPR)
  • Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA
  • Alphabet Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA94043, USA

Transfer to third countries
The European Commission adopted its adequacy decision for the USA on 10 July 2023. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Privacy Framework. As Google’s servers are distributed worldwide and a transfer to third countries (for example, to Singapore) cannot be entirely ruled out, we have also concluded the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the provider.

Retention period
The data sent by us and linked to cookies is automatically deleted after 3 months. The maximum lifespan of Google Analytics cookies is 2 years. Data whose retention period has expired is automatically deleted once a month.

Legal basis
The legal basis for this data processing is your consent in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR and Section 25(1) of the TTDSG.

Withdrawal
You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect by accessing the cookie settings in the footer and changing your selection there. The lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of your consent up to the point of withdrawal remains unaffected.

You can also prevent the storage of cookies from the outset by adjusting your browser software settings accordingly. However, if you configure your browser to reject all cookies, this may result in restricted functionality on this and other websites. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by

a. not giving your consent to the setting of the cookie or
b. downloading and installing the browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics HERE.

Further information on the terms of use of Google Analytics and on data protection at Google can be found at https://marketingplatform.google.com/about/analytics/terms/us/ and at https://policies.google.com/?hl=en-GB.

d. Cookies

Cookies do not cause any damage to your computer and do not contain viruses. Cookies serve to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and saved by your browser.

Processing is carried out on the basis of Section 15(3) of the German Telemedia Act (TMG) and Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, based on the legitimate interest in the aforementioned purposes.

You can configure your browser so that you are notified when cookies are set and only allow cookies on a case-by-case basis, exclude the acceptance of cookies in specific cases or generally, and enable the automatic deletion of cookies when you close your browser. However, disabling cookies may restrict the functionality of this website.

You can find out how to manage (including deactivating) cookies in the most common browsers via the links below:

We use the consent tool “CCM19” to manage the cookies and similar technologies (tracking pixels, web beacons, etc.) used and the relevant consents. Details on how “CCM19” works can be found at https://www.ccm19.de/en/ccm19-about-privacy-shield-and-usa.html.

The legal basis for the processing of personal data in this context is Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR and Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the management of the cookies and similar technologies used and the relevant consents.

The provision of personal data is neither contractually required nor necessary for the conclusion of a contract. You are not obliged to provide personal data. If you do not provide personal data, we cannot manage your consents.

3. Retention period / erasure

The data subject’s personal data will be erased or blocked as soon as the purpose for which it was stored no longer applies. Storage may also take place if this is provided for by European or national legislation in EU regulations, laws or other provisions to which the controller is subject. The data will also be blocked or deleted when a storage period prescribed by the aforementioned standards expires, unless there is a need to continue storing the data for the conclusion or performance of a contract.

4. SSL or TLS encryption

For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or enquiries that you send to us as the website operator, our website uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the fact that the address bar of the browser changes from “http://” to “https://” and by the padlock symbol in your browser bar.

If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

5. Your rights

You have the right – in some cases subject to certain conditions – at any time to

  • request information about the processing of your data,
  • have your data corrected,
  • have your data deleted or restricted,
  • have processing restricted,
  • object to the processing of your data,
  • to receive your data in a portable format and to transmit it to a third party,
  • to withdraw your consent to the processing of your data for the future, and
  • to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority regarding unlawful data processing

To do so, please contact us using the contact details provided at the top of this page.

6. Unsolicited advertising

We hereby expressly object to the use by third parties of contact details published in accordance with the legal requirement to provide an imprint for the purpose of sending unsolicited advertising and information material. The operator of the website expressly reserves the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, for example via spam emails.
